ARRIVE PARO :
Fly into Paro Bhutan from bagdogra airport. On this flight, you can see breathtaking views of the Great Himalayas as you start approaching Bhutan. Arrive Paro where you will be welcomed to the Kingdom by your guide. After a 10-15 minutes drive from the airport you'll reach the hotel. After check in, lunch served at the hotel. After lunch, Visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest Monastery in Bhutan and have a look around Paro town. Overnight Paro at Hotel.
SIGHTSEEEING IN PARO :
After breakfast drive up valley to the Drukgyal Dzong or the Fort of Drukpa victory. The Dzong, although gutted by fire and in ruins now, still attracts visitors. It was used to repel Tibetans invasions throughout the course of early Bhutanese history. Looming above the smouldered ruins is the snowcapped peak of the Chomolhari. Hike uphill to Taktsang for about two to three hours for a close up of the famed site where Guru Padmasambhava alighted upon the back of a tigress. Also visit Kitchu Monastery on the way back.
PARO TO THIMPHU: 55 kms and 1 hr :
After breakfast visit National Museum and Rinpinthong Dzong. The capital of the country lies 54 kms or about one hour's drive away from Paro. Drive through the idyllic countryside, through villages and paddy fields, across rivers and natural forests. Afternoon visit the Memorial Chorten, built in the memory of the Late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Also visit the BBS tower for the scenic view of the town and also have a glance at the National Animal of Bhutan, Takin. Evening visit the Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the Central Government where both the temporal and spiritual heads of the country preside. The Dzong was rebuilt in the 1960s on the ruins of an early structure. Stroll through town. One may be able to catch a game of archery in progress at the Changlimithang compound, below the town. Overnight at the Hotel.
|Day 04|| THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING AND DRIVE TO PARO:
Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, was established in the 1960s and is today still a small bustling town. You will notice the unique touch of traditional architecture in the building around. The town has just three lines of shops and probably is the only capital in the world without traffic lights. In the morning visit the School of Arts & Crafts Changangkha Lhakhang (Temple built in 15 century). And visit the Folk Heritage Museum. After lunch continue, drive to Dochu La Pass (3,050 m). If the weather permits you can see a range of high peaks toward the northeast. The 108 miniature stupas offer a beautiful sight to the visitors. Return back to Paro. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
PARO –ONWARD DESTINATION :
